White Lake Library Gets Books by Local Author

The White Lake Township Public Library received a welcome addition to its library today, when local author Jeffrey Caminsky donated several of his books to add to their collection.

Caminsky, who is in the process of moving to White Lake, presented the library with hardover editions of his two science fiction novels, The Sirens of Space and The Star Dancers, along with his edition of the Sonnets of William Shakespeare.

Caminsky, a retired assistant prosecutor from Wayne County, recently purchased a home in White Lake, and plans to move once rennovations to this new home are complete. His upcoming novel, Clouds of Darkness, will be the third volume in his Guardians of Peace science fiction adventure series, and is scheduled for release later this year. His books are published by New Alexandria Press, a small publishing house located in Michigan, and are availabe online at Amazon, Borders, and Barnes and Noble, as well as selected local bookstores.

Booksigning by Jeffrey Caminsky

Michigan author Jeffrey Caminsky is tentatively scheduled to appear at a booksigning at the Costic Center in Farmington, Michigan on December 5, 2009.

The event, part of a larger display of vendors from southeastern Michigan, will take place in Farmington's Costic Center.

Caminsky will be part of a display featuring other authors and artists from the Ridgewriter's, a group of local local writers. His display will include his books, as well as his photography, and will feature posters and notecards of the mountains of the Western United States, as well as Outer Space.

Radio Appearance by Jeffrey Caminsky

Author and attorney Jeffrey Caminsky will appear on the "Ebling and You" radio show this afternoon, to discuss the case of Renee Beavers.

The 33-year old woman from Detroit has managed to amass more than forty traffic tickets, without ever having a valid Michigan driver's license.

Hosted by long-time Lansing-area sportswriter and radio talk show host, "Ebling and You" appears daily on WILS, 1320-AM in Lansing, Michigan.

Shakespeare Book to be Listed in Worldwide Bibliography

New Alexandria Press is proud to announce that its edition of Shakespeare's sonnets, edited by Jeffrey Caminsky, will be included in the definitive international bibliography of the works of William Shakespeare.

James L. Harner, a professor at Texas A & M university and the editor of the World Shakespeare Bibliography, notes that the publication is the pre-eminent "record of publications about Shakespeare," and is consulted by "scholars, librarians, and teachers throughtout the world." The service, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press for the Folger Shakespeare Library, is the authoritative collection of reference works in the field.

Radio Appearance by Jeffrey Caminsky

Michigan author and former assistant Wayne County prosecutor Jeffrey Caminsky will be appearing on today's "Ebling and You" show, on WILS, 1320-AM.

Topics will include the visit to Michigan of Federal officials, exploring the possibility of establishing "Gitmo North" in the vacant Michigan maximum security prison in Standish, Michigan.

Jeff Caminsky a Winner in Short Story Competition

In its August edition, the Michigan Bar Journal published the short story "Crucible of Justice," written by Jeffrey Caminsky.

The story was entered in the Michigan State Bar's second short story contest. Other winners of the 2009 competition include "The Word of the Day is 'Trust,'", by Michael Kitchen, and "The Shadow from the Wall," by Robert B. Nelson.

Estabslished in 2007, the short story contest is sponsored every other year by the Michigan State Bar. This is the second time that Caminsky has been a winner in the State Bar short story contest. He also won in 2007, with the short story "Crapshoot."

"Crucible of Justice" tells the story of a murder prosecution, seen from the perspective of one of the surviving victims. It was inspired by one of Caminsky's cases as an appellate prosecutor.

Local Author Donates Books to Novi Library

This week, local author Jeffrey Caminsky donated his three newest books to the Novi Public Library.

The new titles, which should be available at the library shortly, include his two new novels, The Sirens of Space and The Star Dancers, as well as The Sonnets of William Shakespeare, his new contribution to the study of Elizabethan poetry.

"I live in the area," said Caminsky, who released five books in the past two years," and so I feel an obligation to give back to the community."

His third novel, Clouds of Darkness, is scheduled for release this fall. This book, as well as his two recent releases, are part of a four-part series of science fiction adventure novels, released by New Alexandria Press.

Local Author Wins Writing Award

Livonia author Jeffrey Caminsky is among the winners of the short story contest sponsored by the Michigan Bar Journal.

This is the second Michigan Bar Journal competition that Caminsky has won. His story, Crapshoot, was among the winners of the Journal's first competition, in 2007.

The new story, "Crucible of Justice," traces the tragic courtroom aftermath of a night-time firebombing that resulted in the murders of four members of a family. Based on a real case, the story demonstrates the conflicts and tensions that arise when the need to protect the innocent conflicts with the rights due to the accused in a court of law.

The story, along with the other two winners, will be published in the August edition of the Michigan Bar Journal.

Upcoming New Book Highlights Auto Industry

New Alexandria Press announces the scheduled publication of a new book, slated for later this summer.

Entitled Rustbelt Odyssey: Tales of a Motor City Dissident, the book traces the life and career of Norman Krandall, a retired auto executive who spent his career working for the Ford Motor Company.

Written by Krandall himself, the book gives glimspes of life growing up in Hamtramck, Michigan, as the son of Polish-American immigrants. Following a stint in the Navy during World War II, Krandall went on to teach at Central Michigan University before joining the Ford Motor Company. He was also a successful and prominent local political organizer and activist. He retired from Ford in the early 1980s, and spent twenty years living in Ireland, before returning to the United States in time for the 2008 elections.

Appearance by Jeffrey Caminsky

Michigan author Jeffrey Caminsky will be appearing at the MediaWest sci-fi convention in Lansing, Michigan over Memorial Day weekend.

Jeff will be manning the table for New Alexandria Press at the event, and will be signing copies of his latest books, The Sirens of Space and The Star Dancers, two science fiction novels set 500 years in the future. The books are part of his sci-fi adventure series The Guardians of Peace. The next book in the series, Clouds of Darkness, is scheduled for publication in the Fall.

Also available will be posters of outer space, and notecards of space---as well as some more "down-to-earth" themes.
