Author Jeffrey Caminsky will be putting down his pen, stepping away from the keyboard, and stepping onto the stage this weekend. Returning to his alma mater, the University of Michigan, Caminsky will be singing with his old college choir, the Michigan Men's Glee Club, joining with other alumni to help the group celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The Glee Club was founded in 1859, and has a reputation as one of the finest men's choral groups in the world. Caminsky was part of the group's European tour in 1971, singing under the direction of Dr. Willis Patterson, when it was named the best men's choir in the world at the Llanglollen music festival in Llanglollen, Wales. One of the selections the alumni group will perform, Randall Thompson's Last Words of David, was the piece that won them the competition.
Currently Caminsky performs locally in the Metro Detroit area as part of the Madonna Chorale, under the dirction of Dr. David Wagner. His books are published by New Alexandria Press, and are available on Amazon and other online sites, as well as through local bookstores.
